The setting is a place where a magician might escape to think about magic tricks and prepare and practice them so that eventually, when he performs them, the illusion is totally convincing. Various objects such as coins, cards and a vase and ball trick are all associated with the world of magicians. In a way, there is a parallel here with the world of the artist where, with a few simple materials such as brushes, some paint and perhaps a bit of oil and turpentine, the artist can create the illusion of a real, alternative, world.
