As an artist, Bouchard found that one of the great experiences of living in Riyadh was to go to the ancient site of Dir'iyah at dawn, to watch the sunrise and do some sketching. This painting is of a Saudi overlooking stables in Dir'iyah during the stillness of dawn when all is silent and the heat of the day is yet to come. It is a magical moment.
