This painting is inspired by the work of the 19th Century Orientalist painters such as Jean Léon Gérôme and Eugéne Alexis Girardet who travelled to the Middle East and who painted wonderful landscapes of the desert. The feeling of timelessness which they depicted so well is just as real today for those who visit the deserts of Arabia.
