This painting is taken from a drawing made by the artist in 1979 in Riyadh. Qasr Nura (on the left of the painting) stood not far from Murabba Palace, which was the Kings Palace, and was a wonderful example of the beautiful style of historic architecture which had been prevalent in old Riyadh. The watertower was a new addition, symbolic of the changes that were being brought about with modern times. Today, Riyadh is a completely modern city.
