This painting is of a street in a residential quarter at dawn in Riyadh. The modern, sharp, outlines of these houses would contrast strongly with the softer outlines of traditional mudbrick architecture which could still be found in the older quarters of town. The circular feature is not a satellite dish: it is a spherical water tank, which was a common rooftop feature in Riyadh in the 80's.
