Dir'iyah is an ancient settlement just a few kilometres away from the centre of Riyadh. As a young artist Bouchard would go there to sketch in the late 70's: this was one of his first experiences in 'working in the field', and even today, after almost thirty years, this place holds a special fascination for him.
