These two pictures were painted as a pair. They were both inspired by the architecture of Somerset House in London.

They are painted in oil paints on panel.

About Somerset House: Edward Seymour, Duke of Somerset, began, in 1527, the building of old Somerset House along the banks of the River Thames in London.

In 1775 the Palace was demolished, and the present edifice - the inspiration fot these paintings - was put up 1777-86.
